I live alone this winter is frigid! But is $214 a reasonable monthly bill? I don’t think so. I run the heat at about 75 at night and turn it down to 65 during the day. I used to turn it off for the day, but the heating bill didn’t seem much lower. The windows seem OK. And we have a a sliding patio door, but I rarely go out there, esp. in the winter. Can I cover this door somehow? What else can I do to save money?

My mom put an air conditioner in her apartment and instead of the back of it being outside she has it in a small room. I told her that carbon monixide might build up in the house. Is this dangerous???

to reduce the electrical bill on the heating for the apartment, i was thinking of blocking part of the vent that is not helpful to heating up the place i want. (hallway for instance) and i’m planning on using hockey tape and paper. will that create any dangerous back flow or other problem that i should be aware of?
just to make some things clear, there is no shutter on the vent, it’s the types that is on the wall not the floor.
it’s a baseboard heater, so i really can’t find any shutter or any other mean to close it.
