I live in the desert. My air conditioner barely keeps up, is it ok to put a humidifyer in front of a fan, in?

front of the air conditioner vent? We simply cannot afford a swamp cooler. I am assuming that this putting some moisturizer in this extremely dry air will cool it off better, as the a/c is working optimal and well. My concern is mold… i’ve been told black mold is deathly toxic here and will actually grow in your veins if you breath it in. The machine I bought stops working at sixty percent humidity level and I’ve already noticed a great difference. Should I be concerned about this mold? I should also add that this is a very fine mist humidifyer and you cannot even see the moisture coming out of it. Thanks.
then is getting a swamp cooler bad too? i’m not used to the desert so i just don’t know? it seems a lot of people here have those.

How is a portable air conditioner able to function differently from a regular air conditioner?

July 28th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized
********** asked:

Regular air conditioners are mounted in a window and bring cool air in while pushing hot air out. Portable air conditioners can be placed anywhere inside the house. Don’t they need to push hot air out? How is this possible?

Recently bought a Geo Tracker, but the air conditioner only cools fairly in hot climates.

Got it checked and everything was OK. Do this cars are supplied with mediocre air conditioners from factory?
Maybe the thin convertible top allows heat from the sun to pass to the passenger area?

I know it is still cold outside but they say buying air conditioner now is cheaper than when it is in demand (like during the summer season). What would you recommend that would not rob me of hard-earned money?

Can I make paneer without heating the milk?

July 20th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized
Laura asked:

My family eats only unpasteurized (raw) dairy products and I’d like to make some homemade paneer. Every recipe I find (even those with raw milk) call for heating the milk to just under or at a boil. At this temperature I may as well be using pasteurized milk as pasteurization occurs at 80 degrees cooler (140 degrees). My recipe calls for whole milk, salt and lemon juice. I’m thinking I can make it without heating the milk if I give it enough time to curdle, but don’t wish to ruin the very expensive raw milk by adding salt and lemon juice if I won’t get paneer anyway. Does anyone know?

Is it safe to put screening outside of my air conditioner?

July 19th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized
tcuptina asked:

When I put my air conditioner in, it always lets in a ton of bugs. I was thinking of putting a temporary screen outside of it and just stapling it to the window frame. (loose enough but just enough to keep the bugs out.) Will this work? Will it harm the a/c/prevent it from working? Other ideas?
